My name is Erik Karlsson, and I'm a painter based in Småland, Sweden. As an artist, I'm interested in the space between abstraction and figuration. I use a variety of mediums, including, but not limited to, oil, acrylic, collage, digital painting and photography. I started out purely as a painter, but in recent years my exploration of collage art has culminated in a series of works that integrate digital imagery with traditional painting techniques.

My work is informed by a vast and heterogeneous archive, the contents of which is extensively reworked and ranges in form and content from the highly textural and layered brushwork of Abstract Expressionism to the conceptual rigor of Minimalism. These influences, combined with a profound interest in contemporary digital culture, inform the aesthetic and conceptual foundations of my practice.
